This is an exciting time for Taos Mountain Outfitters! We are settled (ok, somewhat settled) into our new home at 113 N. Plaza and are excited for a great summer on the plaza. To celebrate our new location we are hosting our Grand Opening on Saturday, June 7. This celebration highlights the combining of The Good Sole and TMO together under one roof. The big day will include an official ribbon cutting ceremony by the Taos County Chamber of Commerce, a KTAO Solar Hay Ride, and various chances to register for gift cards and prizes. There will be giveaways throughout the day, special discounts on various merchandise, and gift with purchases.
About The Name TMO
Many ask why we went with the name Taos Mountain Outfitters; Taos is an area rich in history and TMO has been involved in the outdoor and business community for over 45 years. So we felt we needed to continue the tradition. But that doesn’t mean that the footwear assistance and orthotic consultations that The Good Sole offered has disappeared; we still have the great selection of shoes and sandals for women and men and we still offer assistance to help relieve sore feet.
More Taos Community Events
Prior to this Saturday’s celebration we are happy to host the packet pickup for the Holy Cross Hospital’sFor the Health of It Fun Run and Walk that takes place Saturday morning. We will have packet pickup on both Thursday and Friday, June 5 and 6. It will be a great chance to get your information plus take a sneak peak at what we will be offering on Saturday. TMO We are excited for our big weekend and this is the kick-off to what we think will be a fun and informative summer. Throughout the summer we will host various talks and events that will offer advice and suggestions on how to enjoy and explore the Taos area. We recently had Taos News hiking columnist Cindy Brown on hand to give a talk on “Getting Ready for Summer Hiking”. Some upcoming events include a talk by Taos Ski Valley Mayor Neal King, who conducts the full moon hike, on Wednesday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. Neal will share what is needed and how to prepare for hiking in the Taos Ski Valley . (Due to the recent snow, the June 12 Full Moon Hike has been cancelled.)
We are working with other groups such as Carson National Forest and other outdoor groups for more events throughout the summer months. Please check our Facebook page for updates.
