Consider a Local Adventure

We’ve all been there; facing the start of summer with an ambitious list of parks to visit and trails to hike, campgrounds to stake out and waters to paddle. Then suddenly the leaves are falling, it’s Halloween, and you’re planning a Thanksgiving feast while your backpack gathers dust in the garage. The good thing is that there is still time to get outside, even in the midst of the holiday rush. All it takes is a little redefinition of the adventure.

We are blessed with a multitude of choices here in our own state, from high peaks to red rock formations to desert solitude. Whatever your style, you don’t have to go far to take a break from it all and get a dose of stunning nature. In this article for Outside Magazine, Aaron Gully describes his adventures with an Artemis camper in the New Mexico and Colorado area. “Adventure is a mindset. Exploration does not have to equal exoticism.” Rather than traveling far afield, he dove deeper into the wild places close at hand.

We’d like to take a page from Aaron’s playbook as winter approaches, and we’d love to help you do the same. If you’re yearning for a little adventure to balance the hectic holidays, come on in to Taos Mountain Outfitters. We’ll help you daydream and get you set up with the right gear to make your trip a success. All we ask is that you bring back your awesome tales to share with us!
