Red River Nature Trail Beginner level, 2 miles, 1-2 hours
The Red River Nature trail is an awesome way to explore the town of Red River. It follows the Red River throughout the backside of town, and there’s plenty of spots to stop along the river. It’s easy to pick it up anywhere in town, and it goes from the Platinum Chair bottom all the way over to Goose Creek trailhead. You can deviate from the trail at any point though, making it a lovely way to walk the town limits. The trail is mostly in the shade, so it can be pretty muddy, especially after a nighttime rainstorm.Â

Ski Area Hiking Trail 7.2 miles, intermediate, 5-6 hours
Start the hike at the bottom of the platinum chair and wind your way up to the summit of the ski area. Totaling 1,601 feet of elevation, after your climb you gotta grab a burger and a cold beverage, enjoy the views, and either hike down or take the chairlift back down for free! The chairlift takes 30-40 minutes to get down to the bottom. Dogs are welcome on leash, and you can bring your dog onto the chairlift but it is YOUR discretion if your dog can handle being on a chairlift for 30-40 minutes.Â

Middle Fork Lake Trail Beginner/Intermediate level, 4.7 miles, 3-4 hours
Middle Fork trailhead is located 7 miles southeast of town. This trail has an elevation gain of 1,217′ and is shared by hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers, and fishermen so you’re likely to encounter all sorts of people on your adventure! The best time to do this trail is May through October, although we recommend it during the heart of summer! Dogs are allowed on leash.

Lost Lake Trail Intermediate/Advanced level, 10.4 miles, 5-7 hours
Lost Lake is a gorgeous 10.4 mile out and back trail, totaling 2,000 feet of elevation gain. If you’re looking for a more challenging hike- this one is for you! This trail is popular with hikers, horseback riders, and mountain biking. Dogs are welcome on leash! The last part of the hike is in the sun the most, so be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen!
Lost Lake is stocked by helicopter with native cutthroat trout, but make sure your license is up to date!Â
It gets chilly up there even during the summer, so be sure to pack a jacket if you’re planning on spending more than a hour at the lake!Â

Goose Creek Trail Advanced level, 11.5 miles, 6-8 hours
Getting to Goose Lake via the Goose Creek trail will take you on a stunning hike totaling in 2,820 feet in elevation gain. This trail is popular with hikers and fishermen, so don’t forget to pack your rod and flies (and your license) if you plan to snag a few! This hike is an out and back, but you can even camp overnight if you want to try your hand at beginner backpacking! Dogs are welcome on a leash, so don’t leave your furry friends behind.Â
It can get very chilly up at the lake, especially at night, so if you plan on camping make sure you bring plenty of warm layers. Evening thunderstorms are common later in the summer, so don’t forget your rain gear either.Â
